Please join the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the US National Committee for UN Women to celebrate our 30th Anniversary with a grand reception to honor Champions of Change to Stand Up for Women Worldwide.

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women. The Metropolitan New York Chapter is the oldest and largest of 16 chapters of the US National Committee, designated to fundraise for UN Women program in 100 countries.

UN Women's priorities are: women’s economic empowerment, political empowerment and leadership, eliminating violence against women, peace, security and humanitarian response, and  the Sustainable Development Goals, among others.

Now, more than ever, there is an urgent need to support UN Women programs that help overcome gender inequalities in work and society.

Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Keynote Speaker


United Nations Under-Secretary- General and Executive Director of UN Women, Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka has dedicated her career to issues of human rights, equality and social justice. From 2005–2008 she served as Deputy President of South Africa, overseeing programs to combat poverty and bring the advantages of a growing economy to the poor with a particular emphasis on women. She was a member of Parliament from 1994–1996 as part of South Africa’s first democratic government. Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka began her career as a teacher and as a coordinator at the World YWCA in Geneva, where she established a global program for young women. She is the founder of Umlambo Foundation, which supports leadership and education.

Erika Karp Founder and CEO of Cornerstone Capital Inc.   Working with investors, corporations and financial institutions, the firm drives systematic analysis of the Environmental, Social and Governance factora throughout the global capital markets. She is a Founding Board member of the Sustainable Accounting Standards board, member of World Economic Forum, Global Agenda Council on Financing and Capital, and was an advisor to Clinton Global Initiative. Ms. Karp is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ and women’s rights.

Susie Ellis Chairperson and CEO of the Global Wellness Institute and head of the Global Wellness Summit and Global Wellness Tourism Summit.   She spearheaded the GWI initiative, WellnessEvidence.com, the first online portal that provides easy access to the universe of medical evidence for the most common wellness approaches. She is a leading authority on the multi-sectoral wellness industry and frequently cited in major global publications from the New York Times to the Financial Times.   Ellis is proud to be a mentor and sponsor to hundreds of young women around the world, having a major impact on their careers and lives.
