Breaking the Silence: Ending Domestic Violence in the South Asian Community

  • WeWork 300 Park 300 Park Avenue 12th floor New York, NY 10022 (map)

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Join the Metro NY Chapter of the USNC for UN Women (USNC-NY) on October 25th as we host a panel event with Manavi discussing the organization's work helping South Asian women escape domestic violence.

Founded in 1985, Manavi was the first organization in the United States to specifically address the unmet needs of South Asian women affected by violence. The organization's mission is to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence and provide culturally-specific support services for women in need of help. As a direct service provider, social change agent and diversity trainer in the mainstream movement to end violence against women, Manavi simultaneously addresses both the immediate needs of women facing abuse and the long-term vision of establishing peaceful communities free from gender-based violence.

General Admission: $10
