A Night to Say No to Violence Against Women
The Young Professionals Committee of the U.S. National Committee for UN Women, Metropolitan New York Chapter (USNC-NY), along with HeForShe supporters, come together to host the 7th Annual A Night to Say to Violence Against Women Fundraiser. The UN Women United States National Committee (UN Women-USNC) is an independent non-governmental organization that supports the mission of UN Women through events, advocacy, public education about UN Women and global women’s issues, and fundraising efforts to support UN Women programs worldwide. The USNC-NY Chapter was founded in 1987 and is comprised of 135 members across all ages and professions. The HeForShe solidarity campaign actively aims to engage men and boys as change agents for gender equality. HeForShe supporters around the world are partners in designing a shared vision of gender equality that will benefit men, women and families.
Funds raised from the event will contribute to the support of UN Women’s programming, including the “Voices Against Violence” program. UN Women has partnered with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to develop an innovative non-formal education curriculum and program for boys and girls, aged 5-25 years. The program prepares young men and young women to be community mobilizers in 30 countries to change gender stereotypes and norms that contribute to violence against women and girls. The program plans to scale up and train 1,500 youth leaders in 10 new countries, reach 300,000 youth, and develop additional strategies to reach more men and boys.
