Take Back the Night
Join the Young Professionals Committee of the Metro NY Chapter of the USNC for UN Women as we work to end violence against women. "Take Back The Night" is an international event taking place on November 29, 7:00-9:00pm, with the mission of ending violence against women in all forms. On this night, we stand together to raise our voices against the injustice faced by women around the world. This will be a night full of inspiring dialogue and conversations which will help raise funds and awareness around the issue of gender-based violence.
Celebrated across the U.S., "Take Back the Night" is a community-based event to protest the fear women and transgender people have walking at night. The night is also a grassroots event that honors the experiences of survivors of sexual violence, sexual assault, childhood sexual violence, domestic violence and survivors of violence such as police brutality, racism, sexist oppression, and other forms of institutionalized violence.
November 29 falls during the 16 Days of Activism, an international campaign that takes place each year. The campaign commences on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and end on December 10, Human Rights Day. The 16 Days os used as an organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. We hope you will join us at the Habitas to "Take Back The Night.
Please wear orange in recognition of the 16 Days of Activism and the Orange the World Campaign.
