We thank all the Metro NY Chapter members who voted for the new board members and officers. We will introduce the new board and officers at the May 18 Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony to be held at the SVA Theatre at 333 West 23rd Street, NYC.
We are pleased to announce our newly elected board members: Kafele Boothe, Associate Director at I Crossing; Cinzia Brandi, Creative Director of Design Now; Melatan Riden, Creative Director of NotanOffice; Marietta Daniels, Diversity Outreach Team Manager at NYC Dept of Education; Veni Dhir, Associate at Palladium Equity Partners; and Tracy Kwok, Analyst at Fluent, LLC.
New officers are: Sandra Barron and Shweta Ghuge, Vice Presidents; Tracy Kwok, Secretary; and Veni Dhir, Treasurer. Mary Luke was elected to a second term as board president, and Donnetta Campbell, Margot Steinberg and Victoria Pham will also serve second board terms.
We appreciate the services of our outgoing members. Kondomar Herrera, Secretary, has been on the board for seven years and has contributed her energy and creative ideas to build the Young Professional Committee. We also thank our finance team, Oneida Cabaleiro, Treasurer, and Amit Sidhu, Finance Chair, for their hard work in strengthening financial reporting. And we are also grateful to Wendy De Marco Fuentes and Jolly Amatya for their strategic guidance. Special thanks to the Nominating Committee Chair, Kathy Tompkins, for her leadership in the nominating process, and committee members Sandra Barron, Anna Chako and Chinsol Choe.
2017–18 has been a busy year as we have grown our membership to 200, increased our financial contribution to UN Women through the 30th Anniversary gala in October, and expanded our programming through partnerships with the SVA Theatre, Microsoft, Carnegie Council for Ethics and International Affairs, Global Wellness Institute and Global Women 4 Wellness. As we enter our 31st year, we look forward to working with all of you to recruit new members, both men and women, expand our partnerships with business and corporations, and increase advocacy and funding for UN Women programs around the globe.
We look forward to seeing many of you the Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony to meet the 30 Champions of Change for Gender Equality. Special recognition goes to board chair of the Programming Committee, Stephanie Bruder, for her leadership in planning this major event, to Sandra Barron for her work with the champions and key support to the event, and to Melatan Riden for her design of beautiful collaterals for the 30th campaign. We thank all the board, committee members and volunteers who have worked very hard to make our 30th anniversary such a successful year.
