Champion of Change: Mickela Mallozzi
Mickela Mallozzi is an Emmy award–winning television host, dancer, and advocate for women’s rights. Her sense of adventure and desire to travel allowed her to use her background in dance =to connect and communicate with people from all over the world. She started a web series to document these interactions, and to inspire women to travel and have their own independent experiences. Through Mallozzi’s determination, PBS picked up the series and developed it into a television show called Bare Feet with Mickela Mallozzi.
Mallozzi’s production team is staffed by women and she believes that it is essential for women to support one another in every industry. She does a great deal of mentoring and public speaking with this belief in mind. Mallozzi is currently hard at work on season three of Bare Feet and will be releasing a podcast of inspiring stories where dance successfully makes cross-cultural connections. She is also the founder and director of the annual Women’s Travel Fest, which encourages women to get out and enjoy the pleasure of travel, whether independently or with others.
Mickela is one of the many inspiring people selected as part of our Champions of Change campaign, which honors individuals who have made a difference in the lives of women and girls in the Metro New York area and globally.
